single-family

duplex (interior access to units)

triplex (interior access to units)

quadruplex (interior access to units)

TOWNHOUSE building type:

(Left: typ. suburban form - residential only.  Right: typ. urban form - residential only or live/work)

           

 

APARTMENT building type:

MIXED-USE building type:

(primary difference between MU type & TOWNHOUSE type is street-level entry & large storefront windows)

 

COMMERCIAL building type:

(Left: typ. multi-story commercial.  Center: typ. single-story commercial.  Right: typ. single-story multi-tenant commercial)

       

 

INSTITUTIONAL building type:

(Left: typ. religious institution.  Right: typ. educational institution; however, this particular structure might qualify as Public Landmark)

           

 

PUBLIC LANDMARK building type:

URBAN RESIDENTIAL (UR8, UR12) development pattern:

(Note narrow lots, shallow setbacks, elevated from fronting sidewalk, and alley access in lieu of driveways)

 

GENERAL RESIDENTIAL (GR3, GR6) development pattern:

(Note large lots, deep setbacks, and individual driveways. Larger private areas "act" as neighborhood park space)
