One of the few pre-Civil War commercial buildings in downtown Salisbury is located at the northeast corner of Innes and Main Streets.  The old Kluttz Drug Store was built ca. 1859 and displays an interweaving of Gothic and Italianate elements.  It is a three-and-one-half story brick building with ground level cast-iron awnings, pilasters, and storefront added about 1888.  The building's handsome brick details include its elaborate corbeled and arcaded cornice, corbeled labels, and semi-octagonal pilasters terminating in bulging caps along the street facades.
