Operations Division
The Operations Division is the largest division within the Salisbury Fire Department. Under the direction of Division Chief David Morris, the Operation Division employs a highly trained, well-prepared workforce that includes 3 Battalion Chiefs and 75 fire suppression personnel from four strategic fire stations.
The Operations Division is charged with maintaining a constant state of readiness in response to emergency medical services, fire suppression, rescues, hazardous materials mitigation, and special assistance. In addition to emergency work, members of the Operation Division, provide a wide range of services to the community including blood-pressure screening, tours of fire stations and apparatus, and on-duty fire and life safety presentations within the community.
On average, the Department responds to over 4,000 emergency incidents each year. In 2010, the department responded to 1,090 emergency calls involving fires, extrications and investigations; 3,374 requests for emergency medical service; and 1,065 non-emergency calls. The division includes 6 fire apparatus, all of which are basic life support units; and one 30 ft hazmat trailer.
The Department sends four Quints, one Rescue-Engine, a Safety Officer, and two Chiefs to all structure fires. With no less than four firefighters to an apparatus, the Division can effectively utilize its resources to all structure fires and ensure every occupant is safely out of the building.
